Madrid collects material for a possible regrowth

The drip aircraft with material
sanitary of China has not stopped in recent weeks despite the decline in the contagion curve due to coronavirus in Madrid and is that the regional government is doing gathering of material to deal with a possible regrowth in the coming months. This is how part of the 1,230 tons of supplies imported through 18 flights are being stored. A sanitary reserve that, according to El País, would be equivalent to the material used for 45 days in the region during the period of greatest impact of the pandemic.

The socialist deputy José Manuel Freire has asked the regional government this Thursday at the Madrid Assembly about the criteria with which he establishes the needs of health personnel for the diagnosis, control and tracking of cases in this phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister of Health, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, has indicated that “technical criteria” have been used to reinforce health personnel thanks to a functional human resources plan for the de-escalation, which has considered the needs of all healthcare levels and which will reinforce the most significant areas with 10,100 professionals.

In this sense, the Primary Care will have 836 professionals to face the de-escalation, from now until December 31, for their important role in the follow-up of Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients, as well as in the performance of tests and the relevant survey.

In hospital care, Hospital Emergencies will be strengthened with 102 doctors, as well as other important areas in the diagnosis of this disease, such as Internal Medicine, with 129 doctors, or Pneumology with 39, according to the Department of Health. And regarding hospital laboratories, they will have 27 Microbiology specialists and 107 more laboratory technicians on their staff.

A volume that, however, the representatives of ‘Primary Care is moving’ describe as insufficient. Through a statement, the platform attributes to the “effort and responsibility” of the people of Madrid and the “dedication and dedication” of the health personnel the passage to phase 1, and not to the planning of the Ministry of Health, to the reinforcements of health professionals in Primary Care and in hospitals, the team of infection trackers or the increase in approved protection material, “because all this is non-existent.” “Madrid has gone through the phase due to exhaustion, but its health system is precarious, especially Primary Health Care. The Ministry has bought masks for the population, but does not offer stable contracts to new specialists, who leave; it does not give clear guidelines for the organization of the centers (…), it does not pay the extraordinary days made to health workers, ”they complain.

A complaint that has been collected by the socialist deputy Freire who believes that the Public Health of Madrid, after eight years without a General Directorate, is “in cadres” and Primary Care is “the one with the least endowment in all of Spain in terms of personal ”, although they are fundamental areas to“ stop any potential coronavirus outbreak ”.

At this time, a regrowth in the Community of Madrid would be “terrible”, said Freire, who told the regional government that “the health, economic and whole-of-Spain costs do not compensate that you do not make the effort to allocate less than one 1 percent of the budget of the Madrid Health Service (SERMAS) to protect us all. “

Ruiz Escudero has described as “apocalyptic” and “far from reality” the intervention of the socialist deputy.

The regional government, stressed, has made “a very important effort” not only with the 10,100 contracts that are being organized, together with the Ministry of Finance, but at all levels, both in the diagnosis and in the monitoring and tracking of this disease as at the care level.

19 million euros in private donations

The Community of Madrid has received 19 million euros in donations from companies and individuals from March 30 to Thursday, which have served to buy medical supplies to combat Covid-19, through the Donamadrid project.

In the web application https://donamadrid.madrid, each donor can freely choose the destination of their donation: protection material for health professionals, material for the protection of patients or for Health to determine priorities, the regional government recalled in a statement.

He has specified that of all the donors, 77.1% have chosen that Health be the one to decide the destination of the donation according to the needs and that a total of 9,500 donations have been made.

As an example, he has indicated that the 19 million euros through donations are equivalent to the purchase of 6 million masks (surgical and FFP2), 10 million gloves, 1 million operating room caps or 150,000 divers, among other type of sanitary protection material.

Primary Care professionals rate the incorporation of personnel and material as insufficient
