Mesut Ozil still have a heart for Real Madrid. For that, he championed his former club when facing Liverpool in the final Liga ChampionsSunday (29/5/2022).
The German footballer spent three seasons with Real Madrid since the 2010 World Cup. During his time at Madrid, he was always the first choice with a record 105 appearances in La Liga.
Surprisingly, he moved to Arsenal after making two appearances in La Liga in the 2013/14 season. At the Spanish giants, Ozil won the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles once each.
Therefore, he could not just forget his memories in Madrid. When El Real meets Liverpool, he will support his former club wholeheartedly.
“For the Champions League, Liverpool vs Real Madrid, the two teams played well, but of course I support Real Madrid to win,” said Ozil at the Office of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenparekraf), Wednesday (25/5/2022).
“Because my heart is still there. Hala Madrid,” he said, which was greeted enthusiastically by his fans.

Real Madrid and the Champions League is actually an irony for Ozil. After he joined Arsenal, Real Madrid won the 2013/14 Champions League.
The title in that season actually made Real Madrid legitimately win La Decima or the 10th title on the European stage. In fact, Real Madrid added three more titles in the next four seasons to be precise in 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18.
