Following its first revelations, the prosecutor’s office in Brunswick (northern Germany) announced that it was leaning towards the death of little Maddie McCann, whose body has never been found. “We assume the girl is dead“Hansdian Wolters, spokesperson, told reporters. Maddie disappeared in May 2007, shortly before her fourth birthday, while staying with the family in the small resort of Praia da Luz, in southern Portugal: Her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, were indicted before being whitewashed, and were even received by former Pope Benedict XVI.
Crucial information
Christian Brueckner, also convicted in 2017 for possession of child pornography images after various other convictions on acts of sexual assault on minors since the early 2000s, is therefore suspected of being behind the disappearance of Maddie. He worked in the same seaside resort and had two vehicles: a dark Jaguar XJR 6 who wore a German plate registered in Augsburg (in Bavaria) and a white and yellow Volkswagen T3 Westfalia van with a Portuguese plate. A van in which he lived.
German police traced his calls the day the child disappeared. He had received a call from 7:32 p.m. to 8:02 p.m. Maddie’s disappearance took place between 9:10 p.m. and 10 p.m. The police have made public suspect’s phone numbers (+351 912 730 680) and the person who called him (+351 916 510 683). The person who made the call is a key witness. Another witness is wanted: a woman from Kosovo, very young at the material time, who is said to have had a brief affair with Christian Brueckner. They would have stayed together in an apartment located about 20 minutes’ walk from the hotel where Maddie and her family were.
Christian Brueckner should soon be heard by the courts as part of this investigation.
