Not good news coming up Liverpool who is chasing records at the end of the season Premier League. Jordan Henderson certainly absent until the season is complete.
Henderson got a knee injury when Liverpool won 3-1 over Brighton at Amex Stadium on Thursday (07/09/2020) early morning hrs. Henderson played about 80 minutes before being pulled out after a collision with defender Yves Bissouma.
Henderson, who scored one goal against Brighton, felt pain in his knee and it was reported that he was using crutches out of the stadium. After the fight, Henderson underwent an examination by a medical team.
Juergen Klopp’s worries came true because Henderson’s knee injury was so severe that he could not appear again in the remaining four games this season. Though Liverpool are trying to break the 100 record when Manchester City won two seasons ago.
“This is the best news I can tell. Indeed, he suffered a knee injury, but does not need surgery,” Klopp was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
“He will not play again this season. But I am very confident he will appear at the start of the new season. He is recovering quickly,” he continued.
Henderson was a pillar in Liverpool’s midfield when they won the English Premier League 2019/2020 and also the Champions League last season. This season, Henderson has made 40 appearances with four goals and five assists.
Without presence Jordan Henderson, Liverpool’s midfield is likely to be filled by Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita until the end of the season. Liverpool also have James Milner who is recovering from injury.
Liverpool will face Burnley at Anfield on Saturday (11/07/2020) evening hrs. Currently the Red have 92 points from 34 matches, it takes nine points to pass the City record.
