Miami (SID) – Despite the strict isolation of the teams, there was another corona case at the final tournament of the North American professional football league MLS. A Sporting Kansas City player has had two positive COVID-19 tests since arriving in Orlando and is therefore in isolation. The club confirmed this without providing information about the identity of the professional.
All other players and all other on-site employees of the franchise, on the other hand, were tested negatively, according to the club. However, it remains questionable whether the team of coach Peter Vermes can play his opening game against Minnesota United on Sunday as scheduled.
The corona virus had previously shaken up the major league soccer tournament schedule. The FC Dallas had been deleted because of eleven Corona cases just before arriving from the 26er field for the tournament in the screened area of Disney World as Nashville SC after nine positive tests. This leaves 24 teams playing for the title.
The opening game of German professional Julian Gressel and his team DC United against FC Toronto, originally scheduled for Thursday, was also postponed. Since Toronto was only able to fly to Orlando on the third attempt because of an employee with corona symptoms, the encounter only takes place on Sunday.
