[18.7.2023] The 2024 draft budget of the state of Lower Saxony provides more funds for the digitization of the judiciary. One of the most important projects is the conversion to digital file management.
The draft budget of the Lower Saxony state government for 2024 sets clear priorities for the judiciary. According to the draft, the funds for the digitization of the judiciary are to be increased by eleven million euros in the coming year alone, as reported by the state’s Ministry of Justice. In addition, 26 new specialists would be hired in the central IT operations of the judiciary. Minister of Justice Kathrin Wahlmann rated this as a great success. “This significant increase will give the judiciary another significant boost at the right time to digital file management. The citizens benefit from this, but also the colleagues in the courts and public prosecutors on site. Legal proceedings will become faster and more effective in the long run as a result of digitization. With the additional funds, we want to further improve the transition process there,” the minister said. In addition, numerous new jobs for IT specialists are to be created in order to be able to technically keep up with criminals. (bw)
