There are now 177 corona patients in intensive care, almost a fifth less than a week earlier. This is evident from the online dashboard of health institute Sciensano on Saturday. However, the number of hospital admissions is increasing slightly.

In the past seven days, an average of 145 patients were admitted to the hospital every day Hopital for covid-19 (+9 percent). There are now 1,933 patients in hospital, with and because of Covid-19. That is 6 percent less than a week earlier.
The number of infections increased by almost a quarter in the last seven days compared to the previous week. 7,250 people tested positive during that period. In the same period, there was -4 percent less testing, or 34,000 tests. This brings the positivity rate to 23 percent (+4.1 percent). Daily dead there are on average 18 corona patients (-14 percent).
It reproduction number, a measure of the extent to which the virus is spreading, is currently at 1.02 (+15 percent). A number above ‘1’ means that the epidemic is picking up. The BA.2 variant of omikron now accounts for 57.6 percent (+12 percent) of the infections.
