Fendt: Tractor production stopped

Online for 13 hours

Agricultural machinery manufacturer AGCO / Fendt is also affected by the corona crisis. Tractor production in Marktoberdorf and Asbach-Bumenheim was discontinued. The reason is a lack of supplier components.

The closure of the factories is a major blow for the agricultural machinery manufacturer. «Despite a very good order situation, the production of tractors has to be stopped from Wednesday, March 25, 2020. As a precautionary measure, short-time work allowance was applied for and approved for the tractor production workforce by the end of June 2020, »says a statement.

The reason for the production stop is the lack of supply components. Supplies ran out this week. The suppliers had to close their plants. “Because of the missing parts, we currently see no other way to discontinue the production of our Fendt tractors until further notice. When we can start producing tractors again depends on the availability of parts. We’ll get started as soon as the supply chains are intact again, ”Christoph Gröblinghoff, Chairman of AGCO / Fendt, quotes.

According to the Allgäuer Zeitung, the agricultural machinery manufacturer lacks tires, rims and front axles, for example. The production stop affects 3,000 employees at the Marktoberdorf location and 1,000 employees in Asbach-Bäumenheim.

But not all AGCO / Fendt plants are affected. At the sites in Feucht, Waldstetten, Hohenmölsen and Wolfenbüttel, parts supply is still guaranteed for the time being. “That is why production can continue there until further notice,” the company continues.

The areas of customer service and spare parts supply are still available.
