Facebook Reveals the Cause of Spotify, Tinder and friends on the iPhone

KOMPAS.com – IOS device users report interference when opening the application Spotify on his cellphone, Friday (7/10/2020) Indonesian time night. They claimed the application crash and can’t open.

According to Downdetector, there were 12,709 reports from various countries, including Indonesia, related to the Spotify application problem until 18:40 WIB last night.

This problem turns out to not only befall Spotify. A number of other popular applications such as Pinterest and Tinder also experienced the same thing and this disorder is only experienced by users of iOS devices.

The disorder is known to originate from software development kit (SDK) belonging Facebook. Most applications including Spotify, Pinterest, and Tinder do provide options log-in using a Facebook account.

By doing the process log-in using Facebook, users can integrate data so they no longer have to sign up or sign up for the application they want to use.

“Recently, a code change triggered crash for some iOS applications that use the Facebook SDK, “said a Facebook spokesman quoted from The Verge, Saturday (11/7/2020).

Facebook also confirmed that the interruption has now been successfully repaired and the application can be used again normally.

“We identified the problem quickly and have resolved it. We apologize for the inconvenience,” added a Facebook spokesman.

This is not the first time the Facebook SDK has made a number of applications and services inaccessible. A similar problem also occurred on 6 May.

According to an application developer, Guilherme Rambo, Facebook does encourage application developers to integrate their services using the Facebook SDK.

Instead, Facebook promises information about application usage data that can be used for advertising.

“Facebook is encouraging application developers to install their SDK, possibly because they want the valuable data they have collected from application users,” Guilherme said in May.
