It’s the name of a planet in a SF comic, dirishu6 is also a rock band from Dijon from the constellation of ascending shoegaze grunge. Discovery!
Layers of saturated and distorted guitars creating a characteristic wall of sound, an airy voice rather in the background… The trio from Dijon dirishu6 calls itself shoegaze rock. Just look at the impressive collection of effect pedals at their feet.
Their influences are to be found on the side of the Anglo-Saxon groups of the end of the 80s/beginning of the 90s such as The Jesus And Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive. Not to mention their appetite for grunge.
It is around these common musical affinities that the meeting took place between Olivier, Thai and Quentin. The group was born in early 2019.
“At the aesthetic level, it was obvious. Quickly, we almost didn’t need to talk to each other“, remembers Olivier, the singer-guitarist who originally carried the project solo.
Quickly also, the trio became known on the regional scene. Winner of the Dijon festival springboard Novosonic in 2019, dirishu6 released a six-track EP the following year. A group which, despite the context of a pandemic which has shaken up its development, hopes not to stop on such a good path.
“The goal now is to record an album by the end of the summer and find a label that gives us wider distribution.“, confides Olivier.
