desperate parents. «He gave us immense love»

He illuminated his parents’ lives for a month and ten days. Like a star that shines more than I can and then suddenly go out for one fulminant meningitis a Spresiano (Treviso). With the certainty, however, that that light will remain forever etched in everyone’s heart. The life of Gounou Gabriele Baba it stopped after just over a month. He was born on May 27th. Everything had gone well. But once home he started having colic apparently inexplicable. After all the checks, the bad news came. As Il Gazzettino reveals.

Gabriele had been brought home by his parents Federica Lovascio and Gounou Baba, residents of Spresiano. The first health problems occurred after the first few weeks with a series of colic. Gabriele had been visited by a pediatrician who, however, had not found any symptoms that could portend the oncoming tragedy. As the colic continued, the baby was hospitalized in the Ca ‘Foncello hospital, in the neonatal pathology department. The doctors found an irregularity in the fontanel and subjected the child to an MRI scan which highlighted a rare form of meningitis contracted by little Gabriele.

The infant underwent an emergency operation and was hospitalized in intensive care. However, her condition did not improve and after receiving confirmation that Gabriele’s condition was compromised, the parents decided to end the treatment by letting the disease run its course. On Tuesday 7 July, the baby’s heart stopped beating after 42 days of life.

An immense pain for parents: the father from Benin and the internationally renowned nail artist mother are receiving dozens of messages of closeness and condolence in these hours. To mourn the disappearance of Gabriele in these hours there are also the little brother Taane Giovanni, the grandparents Rita and Giovanni, the uncles, the cousin and all the relatives and friends of the parents. The funeral will be celebrated this afternoon, Thursday 9 July, at 3.30 pm in the cemetery in Spresiano.
