DARMSTADT – SV Darmstadt 98 is starting the second part of the season with a good feeling: The second division soccer team won the test match against league competitor Jahn Regensburg on Saturday in front of 250 spectators 4: 2 (3: 1). The game was played four times for 30 minutes, and the result was absolutely okay. The lilies, currently runner-up in the table, are well prepared for the first league game next Saturday (8.30 p.m.) against Karlsruher SC, who lost their last test on Friday against Hamburger SV with 1: 3.

Lilien coach Torsten Lieberknecht initially sent a formation onto the field that could play the first league game after the winter break against Karlsruher SC next Saturday. Marvin Mehlem was there from the start, Lieberknecht had to do without the still ailing Mathias Honsak and goalkeeper Morten Behrens (Corona). Also not there were Lasse Sobiech (ankle problems) and Braydon Manu (spared).

First chance early in the game

Phillip Tietz had the 1-0 on foot after four minutes, but he shot past the goal from the best position on the right. Lilien goalkeeper Marcel Schschuhe distinguished himself for the first time after 14 minutes when he cleared an Erik Wekesser free kick to a corner. In return, Tim Skarke then marked the 1-0 for the lilies after a fine counterattack via Mehlem and Matthias Bader – that was really ripped off by everyone (15th).

It was a really entertaining game in which Jahn was also looking for his chances. Steve Breitkreutz used one of them to make it 1-1 when he was on the spot after a corner kick with a head (19th). Nevertheless, the lilies went into the first break with a 2-1: After a free kick by Tobias Kempe, the ball landed indirectly at Klaus Gjasula, who poked the ball over the line from close range (30th).

In the second quarter, Skarke had the 3: 1 in mind, but his conclusion after good preparatory work by Mehlem was poor (31st). And so it was left to Phillip Tietz to mark the third Lilien hit: he netted after a free kick from Kempe without being pushed, but also thoughtfully (42.). Bader could have achieved the 4: 1 shortly afterwards, he failed to Jahn keeper Alexander Meyer (45th). And Tietz also missed a chance for the now clearly superior lilies, he too failed because of Meyer (54th).

In the second 60 minutes, Lieberknecht sent a completely new team onto the field. Not too much happened, Emir Karic’s shot past the goal was the first minor upset (72nd). Two minutes later, Erich Berko staged the industrious Benjamin Goller, but he missed the ball a meter in front of the goal – that was a hundred percent (74th). One turn of the pointer later the time had come: Berko failed to goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum, the rebound pushed Goller over the line (75th). But once the guests were allowed to cheer: David Otto used a counterattack to make a 4-2 goal (90th).

In the end it stays calm

Not too much happened in the last quarter, but at least newcomer Andre Leipold got a few more minutes. He was close to a goal, but failed due to Kirschbaum (112th). In the end it stayed at 4-2 – the second part of the season can come.
