Mastercard, Visa, Postfinance and American Express raised contactless payment with their respective cards from 40 to 80 francs to meet the health restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The increase in the payment limit concerns all cards with the contactless function, namely credit, debit and prepaid cards, said Mastercard in a statement on Wednesday.
Several European countries have recently raised the limit for contactless payment.
