Concertgebouw streams concerts, ‘without an audience it still feels magical’

Worries about the future

The director of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Simon Reinink, is now worried about the time after corona. “This shouldn’t be too long,” he says. He is now investigating whether it is possible to organize concerts with fewer people in the hall. But that has consequences for finances with the rules for a 1.5 meter distance. “Then we can only sell a third of the places. And the musicians on stage have to keep a distance from each other.”

Pianist Fedorova is very happy with the opportunity to be on stage after all. “It is a great opportunity for musicians in this crazy time. It is my favorite place in the world to play, even with an empty hall.”
