CHSLD Hôpital Général de Québec deplores three other deaths | COVID-19 | News | The Voice of the East

Lhe death toll at CHSLD General Hospital is now 12 since the start of the outbreak, with three new deaths on Saturday. Up to 74 users (+8) and 42 employees are infected.

The non-contracted private CHSLD of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Jardins du Haut Saint-Laurent, has experienced another case jump, 36 users (+5) and 43 employees (+7) are now infected.

“When COVID-19 enters somewhere, it’s hard to prevent its spread given the level of care given to patients. The most stringent measures are applied, but sometimes the wave takes off and continues to spread. Eventually, the measures paid off and the wave stopped swelling, as was the case with the Jeffery Hale. We hope this is what will happen at the General Hospital and at the Jardins du Haut Saint-Laurent. We are trying to contain the wave as much as possible, “said a CIUSSS spokesperson, Mathieu Boivin, in an interview with The sun.

Despite the constantly growing numbers, Boivin says “the signal is no more alarming than elsewhere.”

Reinforcements are already on site, CIUSSS employees and “SWAT” teams dedicated to hot areas.

“The bigger the place, the more likely the virus will spread. The ideal is that the virus never enters, ”adds Mathieu Boivin.
