Choir “Balsis” resumes live concerts and goes on a musical journey / Article / LSM.lv

The youth choir “Balsis” will give 3 public concerts in the second weekend of July – in Upīte, Baltinava and Limbaži. As every year the choir performs in Latvia as often as possible, this summer is no exception. On the Latgale side in Baltinava and Upīte, Balsis will be for the first time, the choir’s artistic director Ints Teterovskis informed.

On the evening of July 11, Andris Slišāns, the director of the Upīte Intangible Cultural Heritage Center, invites you to a spiritual concert together with the choir “Balsis”. The concert will take place at Upīte Folk House. The choir has chosen to play music for the first time in this place, following the native places of their singers.

On July 12, “Voices” will be heard at a special service at the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltinava. The service will start at 11.30, and the choir will perform at 12.15.

On the evening of July 12, the choir together with the city of Limbaži invites to a concert in St. John’s Church in Limbaži, celebrating the 340th anniversary of the church. “Voices” on the Limbaži side are not common, but regularly, both at the celebrations of Emilis Melngailis and Baumaņi Kārlis, and at solo concerts in the church, notes Teterovskis.

In terms of content, all concerts will be different, but the spiritual and secular music of Latvian authors is always in the foreground.

Also in August “Voices” will be heard in many places – on August 23 in Īle and from August 27 to 30 in a total of 10 concerts on the banks of the Lielupe, where “Voices” will be heard from Bauska to Jelgava, as the choir will go down the river by boat.
