The Belarusian football club Dynamo Brest has started an initiative to partly fill the stadium with mannequins with portrait photos of supporters pasted on them, so that fans can still be virtually at the match.
Belarus is the only country in Europe that still plays football, but more and more fans stay at home for fear of the corona virus.
Dynamo Brest’s Stadyen DASK Brestsky can accommodate over ten thousand supporters, but last Saturday’s league game against FK Slavia-Mozyr (1-2 defeat) had fewer than a thousand people.
The current number ten of Belarus has therefore looked for another way to fill the stadium. Fans from all over the world can buy a virtual ticket on the Dynamo Brest site, after which the club puts a doll with a photo of that supporter in the stadium.
People from different countries buy tickets
Wednesday at the cup duel with Shakhtyor Soligorsk (2-0 win) was tested for the first time with the mannequins. Fans from Russia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Iran, among others, had bought a ticket. They could also choose a club shirt for the doll.
