One of the shops in the Grand Bazaar, which is a monument, was renovated with a simple repair permit from the municipality. The shop used as the exchange office after the renovation became unrecognizable.

The shop owner appealed to both the prosecutor’s office and the Regional Board of Protection of Cultural Heritage, complaining the tenants. The Board of Monuments decided to dismantle for illegal renovation. The teams of Fatih Municipality went to the Grand Bazaar in the morning and removed the structures added to the exchange office.

THEY CUT THE COLUMNS
The tenant’s lawyer, Halis Kavraz, blamed the owner. Kavraz, “The biggest irregularity in this shop is the cutting of the column, which is not made by us” said.
If the landlord’s lawyer Nusret Sarı is “My client bought this place in 2019. It is not possible to cut this column. It is not known by us when the column was cut. We were notified by the municipality that the tenant’s transactions were irregular ” he spoke. (İHA-DHA)
