We can’t go back to non-essential activities this week: Maru Campos

Chihuahua— After the data released by the Ministry of Health, which indicates that there are already 377 confirmed cases of COVID 19 in the city, the municipal president, Maru Campos Galván, reiterated that in order to face this virus, the collaboration of all citizens is essential, for what called not to relax the measures and continue at home.

He stressed that the processes of returning to activities are different in the country, since the virus did not reach everywhere at the same time, and when arriving in Chihuahua later, the return to activities gradually, will occur at a different time.

He explained that it will be in the next few days when the State Government indicates when and how the possible staggered return will take place.

We reproduce below the full message of the Mayor:

“According to data from the State Health Secretary, here in Chihuahua, we started the week with 330 confirmed cases of COVID 19 and today there are 377; Hospitals are receiving more patients every day and deaths are increasing.

Perhaps for some this is just a number and they think they are few, but I invite you to imagine if your mother, father, children or partner were among those cases. What is at stake is health and life.

I have said it before and I repeat it: it is the responsibility of each one of us to take this seriously and avoid contagion, avoid disease and even death.

We must continue to take the necessary precautions, not relax the measures and stay home.

According to projections, in Chihuahua, there are still complicated days.

It is true that, in other central states of the country, they have begun to release activities, but that is there, because there the disease started earlier and according to their information they have reduced their infections.

Here in Chihuahua, the State Government, which is the highest health authority, has been very clear:

It is not time yet to return to normal activities, and in the next few days we will know the dates of the possible staggered return.

Please do not get confused, in Chihuahua we should not and cannot return to non-essential activities this week.

As the Municipal Government, we will continue to ensure that only essential activities authorized by the State and Federal Government remain open, and that hygiene and prevention measures continue to be observed.

Together, we have to take care of everyone’s health and life, and avoid the collapse of medical services, as is already happening in other parts of the country.

I understand how difficult this situation is economically, socially, and personally, and I know that we are all eager to return to work and rejoin our activities; But we cannot ruin the effort that we all put into the weeks of confinement that we have been carrying, nor the work of the police, firefighters, public service personnel, and medical personnel that are in the first line of defense against the pandemic. and in which some have already given their lives.

I am convinced that, if we are all responsible, with an additional effort to take care of ourselves and stay at home, we will succeed.

It depends on each one to avoid infecting or being infected. Let’s do what we have to do today:

“Stay home, stay alive, and help us come back sooner and stronger.”
