Self-service bikes arrive in Niort

After the free buses, after the rental of long-term electric bikes, Niort agglo now offers a self-service bicycle service. Starting this Friday, January 24. 50 blue bikes will initially be spread over six stations :

  • Place de la Brèche
  • Station
  • Middle mill
  • Atlantic pole
  • University center
  • Bottom foot (bus station avenue de La Rochelle)

How it works ?

To use these self-service bikes, you have to sign up on the website tanlib.ecovelo.mobi or VIA the VéloTanlib app from January 24 and create an account. Several formulas are possible with or without subscription :

  • a freedom package for occasional races: € 1 for the first 30 minutes and € 1.50 / additional hour
  • a package subscription : € 2 for a day, € 5 for a week, € 15 for a month and € 100 for a year. In the case of a subscription, the first 30 minutes are free for each race, and then if you use it longer, you have to pay € 1.50 per hour

It is possible to rent an electric battery with 25 km of autonomy (10 euros for a month, 50 euros for a year)

After registering for the service, the bicycle is unlocked via the VéloTanlib application by selecting the bicycle number, by SMS by sending the bicycle number to 07 555 36 999. A code is sent to enter on the bicycle. Last solution, by credit card by badge on the back of the bike. There is a security deposit of 150 euros verified by bank imprint, without being taken.

Respond to ad hoc needs

This offer is complementary and responds to ad hoc needs for the mayor of Niort Jérôme Baloge: “It is to facilitate movement and mobility for people who are not necessarily all Niortaises, business tourism, students or other people passing through who take a bike to the station and can reach the market or other places and faster than on foot “.

A development of the bicycle which is accompanied by a strengthening of cycle lanes. “There are cycle paths and there will be even more tomorrow but a cycle path cannot be done like that, it takes a lot of work”, says Jérôme Baloge
