By redistributing the budget resources of the State Cultural Capital Fund (SCCF), the Council of the Fund has increased funding for the operation of regional concert halls and other cultural institutions by 400,000 euros.
As the SCCF representative Jana Vērdiņa informed LETA, the foundation has redistributed funds to the target program, with the help of which it is planned to ensure the availability of versatile professional art in development centers of national or regional significance in the regions of Latvia.
This year, additional funding of 100,000 euros is provided for Latgale Embassy “Gors”, 50,000 euros – Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center, 90,000 euros – Ventspils Theater House “Jūras vārti” and concert hall “Latvija”, 90,000 euros – concert hall “Lielais dzintars” , but 70,000 euros – for Vidzeme concert hall “Cēsis”. The total amount of funding reaches 400,000 euros.
Vērdiņa pointed out that in order to make such an increase, the funding for this year’s 3rd cultural project competition has been reduced.
CONTEXT:
The structures and funding models of regional concert halls differ, but the budget for all consists of municipal funding, revenues from tickets, lease agreements and other economic activities, as well as the State Cultural Capital Fund target program “Ensuring access to diverse professional art in development centers of national or regional significance in Latvian regions”.
Crisis of the regional concert hall Covid-19 hit particularly hard, some employees had to be laid off because municipal capital companies were not entitled to downtime benefits.
Concert halls for the state requested EUR 700 000to be able to continue working.
