Penumbral eclipse of the Moon will be seen tonight | PRESENT

The Society for Astronomy of Puerto Rico Inc. (SAPR) reports that during the night today, Saturday, July 4 at dawn on July 5, we will have a penumbral eclipse of the Moon.

A penumbral eclipse of the Moon occurs when our natural satellite passes through the Earth’s shadow cone that still receives sunlight, causing it to receive little or light shadow from the planet.

As reported, starting at 11:07 pm we will see how one of the ends of the Moon subtly darkens, reaching its maximum shading point at 12:28 am and culminating at 1:52 am on Sunday morning. It will be in alignment with the planets Jupiter and Saturn, notable as the brightest points in the sky after the Moon and without twinkling, said the organization which will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this month.

The SAPR invites those fans of astronomy to show their astronomical photographs taken through cameras and telescopes through its Facebook page.
