It was snowing, the sky was gray. Nobody thought about skiing yesterday Saturday anyway. Most of the 1200 guests of the wedding couple first had to sleep in their intoxication.

Until five in the morning, the company celebrated the wedding of shipowner Stavros Niarchos (34, family wealth: CHF 2.4 billion) with the oligarch’s daughter Dasha Schukowa (38), the ex – wife of Chelsea owner Roman Abramowitsch (53).

The party was designed in the style of the 1920s. With the appropriate dress code, Charleston and Big Band. The bride wore a breathtaking dress, which was specially tailored by star designer Valentino Garavani (87). Champagne, ouzo and vodka flowed wildly together.

The guest list was as high-profile as rarely in Switzerland. Hollywood actress Kate Hudson (40), supermodel Karlie Kloss (27) and cinema beau Orlando Bloom (43) traveled specially to the Engadin. But fashion icon Stella McCartney (48), Princess Beatrice (31) and Princess Caroline (62) also congratulated the couple on their billion-year answer. Fiat heir Lapo Elkann (42), who is recovering from a car accident in Israel, has been in St. Moritz for a long time.

The niarchos have been associated with St. Moritz for generations. In the mid-1950s, the groom’s grandfather, Stavros Niarchos I (1909–1996), founded the aerial cableway to Corvatsch and Piz Nair. His sons Philip (66), father of Stavros jun., And Spyros Niarchos (65) are the largest private landowners in St. Moritz. They also own the Hotel Kulm, where many of the guests are accommodated. And they are among the most important employers in the canton. In 2018, they received honorary citizenship.

Cost: around six million francs

Dasha and Stavros have known each other for over a decade. They fell in love only after Dascha’s separation from Abramowitsch 2017, with which the art expert has two children. It is a nice commitment to St. Moritz that they married here of all places, says Mayor Christian Jott Jenny (41), who gave the wedding speech. Mega celebrations cost around CHF 6 million!

Dinner at the Corvatsch middle station
–
When the sun appeared yesterday afternoon, the first guests woke up again. To celebrate happily, but in a more intimate setting than on Friday. After 8 p.m., the closest friends and family members drove to the comfortably decorated restaurant of the Corvatsch middle station, where they toasted Dasha and Stavros for a second time until late into the night.
