Mexico will record 276 new deaths infected with the corona virus on Sunday. This brings the total death toll from the coronavirus to 35,006, which means Mexico has more deaths than Italy.
Mexico thus becomes the fourth country in the world in terms of deaths from the corona virus. Only in the United Kingdom (44,904), Brazil (72,100) and the United States (135,171) are the deaths higher.
The number of Mexican infections rose on Sunday by 4,482 to 299,750. The corona virus is still very active in Mexico, just like in the rest of Latin America.
Mexico partially locked down due to the virus on March 23, but many corona measures have already eased. As a result, most Mexicans have been able to go to work since the beginning of July.
Health experts say that those easings were allowed too early, so the virus is now spreading around the country. They also fear that the actual number of deaths and infections from the virus is actually much higher than has now been established.
