coronavirus crisis
This was intended to facilitate the movement of essential workers, but now it will be necessary to pay again for parking on the street.

The local police are remembering this weekend on their social networks that the regulated parking service (SER) from Madrid will start operating again this June 1. A measure that the mayor has already announced José Luis Martínez-Almeida last week at an event in Ríos Rosas to present a 45 km widening of bus lanes.

The entire EMT bus fleet is back to normal

On March 14, the Area of Environment and Mobility led by Borja Carabante left SER inoperative due to social and health reasons in all the streets surrounding hospital centers with more than 100 beds. This measure was implemented in order to facilitate parking for medical professionals and patients. Two days later, this suspension was extended to the entire service to facilitate the essential movements of citizens in their private vehicles, the safest mode of transport to avoid contagions in the most critical period of the pandemic in Madrid.

Almeida advanced on Wednesday the resumption of the SER for green and blue squares in Madrid, but still took the opportunity to remember that public transport also returns to normal. The entire bus fleet of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) also returns this Monday.

The resumption of the SER is part of the actions programmed by the City Council for a progressive and safe de-escalation, a decision that is adopted in parallel to the increase in traffic that has meant the transition of Madrid from phase 0 to phase 1.
