Guillaume Hoarau released his first single

Declaration of love to Paris

The YB striker uses the Corona break creatively with a song release. “Paname” is a homage to the city of love.

Training for footballers has only been possible to a limited extent recently. They had to stay at home, somehow pass the time at home. But if you now think that all the footballers have just played Playstation or, like Bayern youngster Alphonso Davies, have become social media stars on Tiktok, you’re wrong.

So Guillaume Hoarau, the Bernese striker, had his hands full during his time in the lockdown. He was actually writing a song that he was now releasing. “Paname” is the name of the song, it is the first single of the 36-year-old Frenchman.

This is the cover of the single.

«I had the idea a year ago»

“Paname”? Shouldn’t that mean Panama? Is this really a spelling mistake? No, of course it is not, because “Paname” is the slang name for Paris. The YB striker explains to the “Blick”: “Nobody says Paris here. Everyone says: Let’s go to Paname. » The origin of the slang name is quickly explained: it originated in the 19th century and comes from the French workers who built the Panama Canal in Panama at that time.

The song itself is a tribute to Paris. To the city where Hoarau lived and played football for a long time. In the song, which is a mixture of reggae, tropical sounds and French chanson, he describes the attitude towards life in the French metropolis, love. Overall, the song, which appeared on YouTube, Spotify and iTunes in early May, looks like a thank you letter to Paris. Hoarau confirms this with “Blick”.

He also explains how the song came about: “I had the idea for this song a year ago and, together with my cousin Ludovic, also recorded a few passages.” A few weeks ago, a few youth players from Paris St. Germain would have written to him because they wanted to know what he was doing as a former lockdown player. «I sent them a 30-second clip. The response was so positive that Ludovic said to me: “Come on, let’s get this thing over.” And so I’ve been in full stress for the past few days. Training in the morning, music in the afternoon, »says the man from Reunion Island.

Hoarau wants the third title

Hoarau and his son Andrea can be seen on the cover of the single. Together they lift the French Cup, in the background you can see the Eiffel Tower. The 36-year-old Frenchman won the title with PSG in 2010 thanks to a 1-0 final victory over Monaco, the only scorer at that time: himself.

He cannot say whether an album will follow soon. He wanted to concentrate on football for the first time and win the title with the Young Boys. To make this possible, YB would have to extend the contract with the striker, which expires on June 30. Hoarau wishes that. He says: «I really want to get the third title with the boys. I hope that YB makes this offer to me. »
