Doom Eternal: Developers confident enough for the Switch version – News

Like the Doom of 2016, Doom Eternal will be entitled to a port to Switch, produced by the Panic Button teams. The title does not yet have a release date, but that will not be long.

In an interview with Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin from Id Software studio at Gamereactor, we learn that news from the Switch version of Doom Eternal will be given in the near future and that the release date will be announced very soon. Marty Stratton seems very confident about this version, which he considers as good as Doom, or even more, since the developers use what they learned during the first porting. So Doom 2016 on Switch was like an experiment, while with Doom Eternal, Panic Button is on familiar ground, allowing to optimize the work.

Doom 2016 (…) was already fantastic on this platform, so I think we are going to take another step forward with Doom Eternal, which comes out because the license has somehow established itself as something that works really on Switch, (…) and it’s a fantastic game. We are not going to dilute the content at all. So people can expect a full experience, says Stratton.

The wait should no longer be very long for Doom Eternal on Switch. As a reminder, the porting of Doom 2016 was considered solid in terms of the compromises made. Handy and suitable for Joy-Con, the title was playable and fluid most of the time.
