The Fryslân Safety Region prohibits demonstrations with agricultural vehicles. This is to prevent demonstrating farmers from causing congestion and dangerous situations just like yesterday.
“The demonstrations were not reported in advance,” the security region writes. “As a result, it was not possible to agree on how to demonstrate safely.”
The ban came into effect at 11 a.m. and applies for a week. “The aim is to protect health, ensure road safety and prevent disorder,” said the safety region. Other demonstrations are allowed.
The regions of Drenthe and Groningen yesterday put one similar prohibition in. These also apply until next Monday.
Livestock feed policy
Protesting farmers have been stepping up for days multiple places action in the country against the new animal feed policy of Minister of Agriculture, Schouten. It wants to reduce nitrogen emissions from manure by allowing less protein in animal feed. The farmers want to decide how much protein a cow gets.
Farmers were also on the road in Friesland. In Drachten, the Aldi distribution center was blocked and in Sneek farmers stood in front of the distribution center for Poiesz supermarkets.
