[부산=디지털데일리 오병훈기자] Webzen worked hard to promote ‘Dragon Sword’ through a booth event with various experience spaces at the global game exhibition ‘G-Star 2024‘ held in Busan.

As it was the first public demonstration event for the new Dragon Sword, it was notable that the booth was designed so that visitors could enjoy the new intellectual property (IP) according to their movements, including a goods shop, cosplay event, and lucky draw.

At the Webzen Dragon Sword booth I visited on the afternoon of the 14th, the line that had started getting longer in the morning showed no signs of abating. According to on-site staff, the crowd gathered so much that the waiting time for the game demonstration exceeded two hours as many users visited the booth.

When the reporter visited the Webzen booth in person, he was impressed by the fact that the booth was designed to allow visitors to have a continuous experience from the first game demonstration to the goods shop.

First, the experience began with playing Dragon Sword on the PC provided in the booth. Dragon Sword, which Webzen first revealed to general users through G-Star 2024, is a third-person 3D action fantasy game whose core content involves slaying monsters while going through various dungeons.

It didn’t take long to become immersed in the game due to the moderate combat pleasure and easy controls. There were three main contents experienced that day: ‘Tutorial’, ‘Story Dungeon’, and ‘Dragon’s Foundation’. The content that the reporter mainly experienced that day was the tutorial.

The tutorial is how the story of the main character, Lute, unfolds through the main quest. Thanks to the fact that the developers paid attention to the animation of the story in the first half of the story, it was quite visually enjoyable to watch. After the story animation ended, there was content to solve simple tasks to learn the combat method.

The battle itself wasn’t difficult. Monster attacks could be easily avoided by jumping or dashing. What caught my eye among the battle systems was the tag battle method. If you press the number key when the ‘Tag Combo’ sign appears above the companion icon at a certain timing, you can switch to the companion character and inflict greater damage. In addition, there was a ‘Stun Blow’ that could turn monsters into a groggy state, making strategic battles possible.

In addition to combat elements, puzzle game elements were also added. There were often parts during the game where you had to interact with the map, such as felling trees to build bridges or moving stones to open doors.

After finishing the game demonstration, I went out to the exit of the demonstration space, and soon the Lucky Draw event site along with the stage where the cosplay event was taking place appeared. Immediately after experiencing the game, I felt like the lingering feeling of Dragon Sword was immediately carried over to other events.

At the cosplay event on this day, models from the famous domestic cosplay team ‘A-Crown’, racing models from ‘Hyundai N Festival DCT’, and models from the Japanese cosplay team ‘Cosmix’ portrayed characters in their entries. An event was also held where visitors who uploaded reviews of their visit to the Webzen booth on social media were entered into a drawing to receive special accessories from among the cosplay model costumes.

At the end of the booth was a goods shop that would encourage visitors to open their wallets after experiencing the game. The goods shop ‘Friends Market’ was selling Webzen Friends goods consisting of various products such as clothing and lifestyle goods.

Mr. Ahn (24), who visited the Dragon Sword booth that day, said, “Dragon Sword felt like a game that anyone could easily enjoy with its easy battles and simple puzzle elements. However, from the perspective of users with 3D motion sickness, it would be better to enjoy it on a large screen. “I think there will be difficulties,” he said.
