On the 18th, voices appealing for elections from the business community are continuing with a sentence of “recall for the destruction of Gukjeong Nongdan” against Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong on the 18th. On the part of Samsung Electronics, vice-chairman Lee’s’day of fate’ is being celebrated in a tighter sense of tension than ever.

Kim Ki-moon, chairman of the Small and Medium Business Administration, issued an appeal on the 17th. Vice-Chairman Lee should give him the opportunity to demonstrate sufficient ownership so that he can do it.” He said, “I look forward to the election of the judiciary so that Vice Chairman Lee can take the lead in the development of the Korean economy by focusing on corporate management activities, coexisting with SMEs, and showing leadership for active future investment and job creation.”

Previously, Park Yong-man, chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also submitted a petition to the court on the 15th to elect Lee Vice-Chairman. He said, “I’ve seen Vice-Chairman Lee so far, and when I think about the weight Samsung has on this society, I hope to give Lee a chance.” On the 7th, Ahn Kun-joon, the head of the Venture Business Association, also filed a petition to the judiciary on the 7th, saying that the role of Vice Chairman Lee is necessary for a win-win ecosystem between venture companies and large companies.

The business community is worried that if Vice Chairman Lee is sentenced to imprisonment, the business environment at home and abroad will deteriorate even further under difficult circumstances such as Corona 19. It is known that dozens of petitions have been received from all walks of life before the sentence of the sentence in the Seoul High Court Criminal Division, which is hearing the case of Vice Chairman Lee. Some opinions say, “You should not be sentenced to be viewed as a regular repertoire of contribution to the Korean economy. In this regard, a Samsung official said, “We are only calmly waiting for the results in a tense state.”

In February 2017, Vice-Chairman Lee was arrested for bribing former President Park Geun-hye. He was sentenced to five years in prison at the first trial, but was released after being sentenced to two years and six months in prison at the appeal trial trial and four years probation. However, in August 2019, the Supreme Court broke the court case and returned the case to the Seoul High Court, saying that it should be regarded as guilty of some innocent matters.
