Yes, it was 6:50 pm today that a report was received that a fishing boat was being flooded off the coast of Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The report point is 42km east of Gampo-eup, Gyeongju-si.
The fishing boat in the accident is the 9.77-ton’Goryong Lake’, which is a red crab fishing boat that was shipped in Janggi in Pohang.
There were 6 people in total, including 2 Korean sailors, 3 Vietnamese, and 1 Chinese Korean.
It is said that one of them reported to an acquaintance during the flood.
The Pohang Coast Guard urged an emergency to drop flares in the area of the accident and search the site in cooperation with the navy, but it has not yet found a fishing boat.
Ten ships and seven aircraft were deployed, and two commercial ships are also supporting the search.
A storm warning has been issued in the area of the accident, and a wave height of 2.5~3.5m is currently being raised, making it difficult to search.
When the news of the flooding of fishing boats spread, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Moon Sung-hyuk urgently instructed us to do our best to search and rescue people by mobilizing all available resources.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has put in rescue equipment and manpower, such as fishing guidance boats, at the accident site, and requested search support for nearby private ships and fishing boats.
