Additionally, the group taking vitamin D supplements had 19% lower rates of heart failure and 11% lower rates of coronary artery treatment compared to the placebo group.

The research team stated, “People at risk of heart diseases, including the elderly, should consider taking vitamin D supplements.”

Meanwhile, the recommended daily dosage of vitamin D is 600 IU for individuals aged 1 to 70, and 800 IU for those aged 70 and above. After a vitamin D level test, individuals with deficiencies can supplement up to 1000 IU.
