As the Arctic cold wave of -20 degrees below continued, the Han River officially froze this morning after two years.

In addition, the waterfall in the city center that could not withstand the cold turned into an ice wall.

The flow of the Han River, which flowed leisurely in the arctic cold wave that lasted for nearly ten days, has stopped.

The temperature in the morning of Seoul was not able to withstand the cold wave of close to -20 degrees below zero.

The edge of the Han River is made of ice that is hard enough to be broken even by throwing large stones.

In particular, unlike last winter, when there was no freezing of the Han River, ice was also observed at the official Han River ice observation site this winter.

It is four days earlier than normal and is officially frozen in two years after winter 2018.

I am now near the Hangang Bridge, which observes the official freezing of the Han River. The observation point is 100m upstream between the 2nd to 4th piers in the Noryangjin direction behind me. As you can see, there is a wide layer of ice thick enough to be seen.

The power of the cold wave from the Arctic was captured not only in the Han River, but also in the waterfall in the city center.

The continuing strong cold turned the artificial waterfall into a huge ice wall.

The strong cold wave that froze the city center will continue for about a day.

This is because morning temperatures in inland areas such as Seoul are expected to drop to around 15 degrees below zero by Sunday.

In addition, in the central region, the morning temperature is below -10 degrees Celsius, and the cold will continue.

The momentum of the strong cold wave will begin to soften from Monday, and the snow between the west coast and the Jeju mountains is expected to gradually decline.
