Our military is participating for the first time in a US-led military exercise held near Taiwan and the South China Sea, where the conflict between the US and China is acute.

In fact, the exercise aimed at China includes not only an amphibious operation, but also the launch of the Haimas, which was instrumental in the war in Ukraine.

This week 2,500 US and Filipino Marines began a joint “Kamandag” exercise in the Philippines.

For the first time, 120 soldiers from a company of the ROK marines participate as observers.

The location is the islands and seas around Taiwan and the South China Sea, where the conflict between the United States and China is intensifying.

In particular, the island of Palau is located about 200 km from the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea, of which China claims sovereignty.

The island of Batanes is relatively close to the area where China has launched rockets in protest against the visit of the Speaker of the House Pelosi.

The flags of the four participating countries were placed side by side at the opening ceremony of the training: the United States, the Philippines, Korea and Japan.

In this two-week exercise, amphibious operations, coastal defense and rescue training, etc. will be conducted as well as live fire shooting.

In particular, the launch of the latest weapon, Haimas, which has shown great power in the war in Ukraine, and the training of fighters are also planned.

This exercise is being conducted in conjunction with the US-Japan Joint Marine Corps exercise in Hokkaido, Japan.

3,000 people, including 1,600 US Marines, are participating in the US-Japan exercise called “Resolute Dragon 22”.

From northern Japan to the South China Sea, 5,500 soldiers from four countries conducted joint exercises against China.

The United States Marine Corps said the two exercises were commanded by the United States 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa.
