Israel has decided to ban the take-off and landing of all international passenger planes at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv from 0:00 to 31st local time for six days.
According to local media, the Israeli government held a ministerial meeting on the 24th local time and approved a proposal to suspend international flights proposed by a meeting of related agencies presided over the Prime Minister.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said it was a measure to prevent the influx of additional mutant viruses.
He added, “If travel is required due to special circumstances, it must be approved by a committee led by the Ministry of Health and Transportation.”
In Israel, a mutant virus originating in the UK has been confirmed in seven pregnant patients.
Accordingly, the Israeli authorities extended the period of the third blockade to the end of this month, while tightening the penalties and crackdown on violators of the quarantine regulations.
