While a team of experts from the World Health Organization was conducting a field investigation in Wuhan recently, allegations were raised that China refused to provide some of the data requested by the investigators.

A team of experts announced that there is no evidence that Corona 19 originated in China, but controversy over the transparency of China continues.

What is the data that China refused to provide?

[기자]

These are detailed data on the confirmed cases in Wuhan in December 2019, the early onset of Corona 19.

A team of experts from the World Health Organization, who had recently conducted a field investigation, requested for the provision, but the Chinese authorities refused.

The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported that there were 174 confirmed cases in Wuhan at the time, and a team of experts requested detailed raw data.

But Chinese government officials and scientists only gave them their own analysis and extensive summaries, the Wall Street Journal quoted members of the expert team.

The data, according to The Wall Street Journal, can help determine when and how Corona 19 began to spread in China.

Danish virus scientist Thea Fischer, a member of the team of experts, said there were no contradictions in the data available in Wuhan, but that the in-depth analysis could not be performed due to the lack of basic data, the Wall Street Journal said.

At the same time, experts and the Chinese side introduced the situation at the time that their emotions were sometimes intensified.

A team of experts has already announced the results of the visit. What is the position of the World Health Organization?

[기자]

The World Health Organization is open to all hypotheses and believes that further research and analysis are needed in the future.

They also assessed that the visit to Wuhan gave them a better understanding of the initial situation of Corona 19 and knowing where more research is needed.

In a video briefing, WHO secretary-general Thewardross Gubrersus, said in a video briefing that the investigation team is currently working on a summary report.

He also said a summary report will be released next week and a final report will be available within a few weeks.

However, with experts from more than 10 countries, including Germany, Denmark, and Russia, as well as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan are participating in this research team, I am interested in whether a meaningful conclusion will come to a level that can end the controversy over major issues.

Most of all, China has accepted an investigation into Wuhan for four weeks, but the opacity continues to be questioned.

In particular, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post newspaper pointed out that in the case of prolific US zoologists, questions are being raised as they have cooperated with the Wuhan Virus Research Institute, which is the center of the controversy over the outbreak of the virus.

Peter Prolific, the only U.S. expert on the team of experts, said the U.S. was wrong in many ways and tweeted the Biden administration not to rely too much on U.S. information.

In this situation, the controversy continues as China has urged the United States to be investigated, and claims that the investigation should be expanded to Southeast Asian countries.
