On Friday, April 24th, 2020, around 6:45 p.m., the fire brigades from Hinterzarten and Breitnau, as well as the police from Neustadt, were called to a fire in a workshop in Breitnau.
According to the current state of the investigation, flying sparks while sawing wood, sawdust in the exhaust system had ignited.
Even before the emergency services arrived, the fire was extinguished using a fire extinguisher so that the flames could not spread to the entire building.
Nobody was injured by the fire. The property damage to the roof and the extraction system is estimated by the police to be around 9,000 euros.
