45468 MH-Altstadt / 45138 E.- Huttrop: A motorcyclist fled from the police in Mülheim on Tuesday evening (April 7th from 10:45 p.m.) before he could be arrested and checked in Essen-Huttrop. A 34-year-old motorcyclist from Mülheim in a 30 km / h zone in the Scheffelstrasse area was noticed by police officers with apparently clearly excessive speed. They followed the motorcycle over Heißener Strasse, Scheffelstrasse to the intersection of Hingbergstrasse. The driver apparently noticed the activated optical “stop police” signals when he stopped in front of the red light and looked in his exterior mirror. When he unexpectedly turned at high speed onto Hingbergstrasse in the direction of Heißen and accelerated further, the officers also switched on the “Yelp” siren and asked the driver via the external loudspeaker to stop his journey immediately. While the operations control center sent more patrol cars into action, the helicopter squadron was also alerted. At a consistently high speed, the driver fled via Frohnhauser Weg to the motorway entrance to the Ruhrschnellweg. Fortunately, the number of vehicles was only moderate, and the motorcycle raced along the A 40 in the direction of Essen. The fugitive left the autobahn at the Essen-Huttrop exit and stopped in good time at the red light in front of Steeler Strasse. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the chasing patrol car driver was able to steer the car across in front of the motorcycle and end the chase. The police helicopter Hummel deployed and on the way was able to turn off and take over other missions. When the 34-year-old from Mülheim was checked, there were suspicions that the driver could be under the influence of intoxicating substances. He does not have a driver’s license and is already known to the police for drug and traffic offenses. His black Suzuki GSX1100C was confiscated and seized. After the police measures were over, the accused was allowed to walk home. / Peke
