The investigating officers of the Wildeshausen police went to the scene of the fire on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. A fire expert commissioned by the insurance company was also on site on Thursday, April 16, 2020.
Together they came to the conclusion that external debts as the cause of the fire can be excluded. A garbage can was identified as the source of the fire, which was located in the transition between the house and the garage. Disposed and still hot ashes had probably ignited the disposed garbage.

A 55-year-old resident noticed a fire in the garage extension of his single-family house at 6:40 a.m. The fire brigade was informed immediately. The fire spread from the garage to the roof structure of the house, it is currently uninhabitable. Approximately 150 fire service personnel from the local fire brigade, Kirchseelte, Brinkum, Heiligenrode, Fahrenhorst, Groß Ippener, Harpstedt, Beckeln and Wildeshausen were deployed. No one was injured. According to initial police estimates, the damage is in the middle 6-digit range. The location of the fire was confiscated by the police for further investigations, the cause of the fire is currently not known.
