Around 5,500 companies in 47 other cities and communities can benefit from Telekom’s fiber optic expansion in German commercial areas. Telekom wants to offer companies connections with top speeds of up to 1 GBit / s. “The future is glass,” says Jean-Pascal Roux, Head of Housing and Broadband Expansion Business Customers at Telekom Deutschland. “A nationwide and future-proof broadband supply is extremely important for Germany. It is the basis for his economic and innovative strength, but also for the social participation of his people. That is why a high-performance fiber optic connection should be a matter of course in every house, in every commercial unit, now and for future generations, just as the telephone connection has been for the past 100 years. This responsibility for Germany is part of Telekom’s identity. ”

The municipalities whose industrial areas are being expanded include: Aachen, Alpen, Blaubeuren, Bonn, Dresden, Engelskirchen, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Friedrichsdorf, Gießen, Griesheim, Gronau, Hachenburg, Jüchen, Kaarst, Karlsruhe, Kiel, Koblenz, Cologne, Kürten , Laatzen, Losheim, Lübeck, Lünen, Marxen, Mettmann, Minden, Mühlenbeck, Mülheim, Neuenbürg, Neu-Isenburg, Neumünster, Nonnweiler, Pegnitz, Reutlingen, Rheinstetten, Saarbrücken, Simmern, Stadthagen, Teltow, Untersiemau, Werther, Wesseling, Wiesbaum , Willich, Willstätt and Wuppertal.

For the current project, Telekom will lay more than 310 kilometers of fiber optics and connect the companies to the fiber optic network. The trenching process is to be used for the expansion of commercial areas. It is time-saving, sustainable and cost-efficient to expand. In addition, it leads to shorter construction times and thus less burdens for the residents.

The companies are connected at no additional cost. The prerequisite is that you decide early on to connect to the fiber optic network. The offer on fiber optics ranges from the asymmetrical 100 Mbit / s to the symmetrical 1 Gbit / s connection. Telekom even offers direct transmission paths with up to 100 Gbit / s.

Telekom invests around five billion euros annually in Germany and operates the largest fiber optic network in Europe with more than 575,000 kilometers.
