“Hartes Deutschland – Leben im Brennpunkt” is back with eight new episodes: The social report shows not only well-known locations in Frankfurt (Main), Hamburg, Kiel or Leipzig but now also focal points in Hanover. The focus of the new episodes is on the effects of the lockdown on addicts during the corona pandemic in spring 2020. The new season starts on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 8:15 pm on RTLZWEI.
“Hartes Deutschland – Leben im Brennpunkt” is back: The lavish SPIEGEL TV production will once again accompany German focal points in the new season. The format paints a multi-layered picture and allows law enforcement officers and residents, but also local addicts, to have their say. In addition to returning to locations that have already been portrayed, such as the Frankfurt Bahnhofsviertel, the social report also shows focal points in Hanover for the first time.
The production conditions in spring 2020 were affected by the lockdown during the corona pandemic. The haunting report shows the effects of the pandemic on the most vulnerable in society. As a result of the lockdown, coexistence in Germany practically came to a standstill: social institutions were overcrowded or even closed, addicts and homeless people – also dependent on gifts – were in some cases completely penniless. The result: many were involuntarily withdrawn.
The first episode of the social report shows the life of drug addicts in Frankfurt’s train station district during the lockdown. One of them is the 24 year old “pill”. He’s been on the street for two and a half years. He has been on drugs for ten years and is now addicted to crack and heroin. “Pill” repeatedly suffers from inflamed abscesses. Now – during the Corona crisis – he is talking for the first time about the possibility of detoxification.
