In case you missed the news last week, Lenovo laptops have been discovered to be infected with a particularly malicious adware that is making computer systems vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. Amazingly, Superfish was preinstalled on Lenovo devices. We shared news of the discovery on Thursday (February 19th) and fully described the Superfish issue on Friday (February 20th).

Since then, Lenovo has released a patch that automatically removes Superfish and also its certificates of affected devices. The company has also detailed exactly how to manually eliminate Superfish for those who don’t trust running an executable from the manufacturer that created this problem in the first place. Microsoft has also updated Windows Defender to make it identifies and eliminates all traces of Superfish

In other words, there is currently no reason not to rid your computer system of this adware, which should never have been activated on it. However, it could take a lot longer for Lenovo to regain the trust of computer buyers.

Much more engaging ads that aired during the 2015 Oscars included the Apple iPad Air 2. The ad shows LA County High School for the Arts students making movies on standard Apple tablets while Martin Scorsese is watching the voice over.

The interesting thing about the ad is that it was everything by itself recorded with an iPad which turns the commercial into its own movie shot on an iPad. This is extremely meta, as well as quite impressive, really. People may look ridiculous using an iPad as an electronic camera, but the results speak for themselves.
