The Public Relations Department of Rizhao City Government announced that Rizhao has been reassigned to the winners list of the China Sports Tourism Boutique Destination Awards at the recent 2020 China Sports Culture Expo & China Sports Tourism Expo, along the coastal cycling and walking route Sunshine Coast Green Lane has been named the China Sports Tourism Boutique Route.
A major urban construction project in Rizhao City in 2020, Sunshine Coast Green Lane, begins at Lighthouse Square in the south and extends for approximately 28 kilometers to the south bank of the Liangcheng River in the north. It was released to the public on July 1st. When building Green Lane, priority was given to the natural environment and ecology. Specifically, exposed locations and damaged coastal areas were restored and 27,000 trees and 280,000 bushes were planted as part of a “Greener Land” project. As a result, the green area was expanded by a further 490,000 square meters.
The walls along all coastal areas have now been removed, as have the unsightly outdated facilities and illegal structures, so that Green Lane is now continuous and offers a clear view of the landscape. The Wanpingkou Scenic Area and Rizhao Coastal National Forest Park are open and entry is free. The Green Lane connects urban streets, tourist attractions and scenic places, squares and green spaces, tourist cities and other existing facilities through 19 connecting channels. In addition, viewing platforms were built and recreational areas for tourists were set up, as well as six floating bridges and a 1,776 meter long passage. This has created an environment that offers rich and varied experiences – like a walk in the fresh air in a picturesque landscape. The Green Lane has a uniform identification system and its service facilities are scientifically structured. A three-tier service system was implemented, consisting of integrated service stations, general service stations and service points. This ensures the delivery of a quality service.
Green Lane near the Sunshine Coast is Rizhao’s new calling card. It perfectly blends leisure and fitness with ecological experiences and provides a new starting point for Rizhao to strengthen the protection of its coastal zone, build a great city and promote high quality economic and social development.
