THEZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill passed away at 72, leaving fans of the Texan band in despair. The announcement was made via social media by the other two historical founders of the group, together for over 50 years: We are saddened by the news that our Companion, Dusty Hill, died in his sleep in his home in Houston, Texas. We, along with the legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your solid presence, your good nature and constant commitment to giving that monumental background to the “Tops”. We will be forever tied to that “Blues Shuffle in C”. We will miss you so much amigo.

Signing the message are the equally bearded singer and guitarist Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard, two thirds of a trio that formed in 1969 in Texas and which has maintained its original formation for all this time, continuing to tread the stages of half the world. Rock legends with over 50 million records sold, influenced by blues and country, but able to experiment in many different directions, have released 15 albums and won numerous awards. In 2004 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The apex of their commercial success came in 1983 with Eliminator, a work that in the United States has conquered the diamond disc and considered a landmark of the 80s.

Cult lineup, ZZ Top have never stopped touring and making new records. And on tour in the States they were also in these days: a few days ago, in fact, another social announcement of the group that explained the unusual absence of Dusty Hill from the stage. He had been stopped by a hip problem, they wrote on July 24, and replaced by their trusty guitar technician. A temporary stop, from which they expected a speedy recovery to soon have our fearless bassist back on stage. Unfortunately this was not the case.
