The musicians who have joined the team “Zvaigznājs” go to different parts of Latvia to help young people develop their musical abilities and reveal the behind-the-scenes of the song creation process. One of the workshops took place in Jēkabpils.
The young people of Jēkabpils had the opportunity to learn about the song-writing process by participating in the songwriting master class led by the Zvaigznāja team – musician Agnese Rakovska, instrumentalist Matīss Repsis and others. Rakovska: “We are trying to create new compositions, and this is extremely important if we want to stimulate and create a strategy in Latvia that Latvia produces products with high added value. Music is a product with high added value. I hope that Jēkabpils will have future authors, future musicians who will be able to export their work as well.”
Young people worked in several stations. In one of them, the text of the song was created, and in the others, the musical message of the song was created together with the producers. Representatives of the Zvaigznāja team emphasize that you cannot teach a young person to compose a song in one day, but you can provide him with basic knowledge so that he can further develop his musical talents. Rakovska: “Zvaigznājs works a lot with the creation of methodical materials, so that other interested parties can pass on knowledge, how to stimulate and how to promote understanding in each session, how a song is formed, what it consists of.” Why not use such phrases? Maybe it’s good to rhyme here? This is an observation, my experience, my summaries. The feeling that we will continue to use the methods that work well.”
Songwriting master classes are held in various Latvian cities, and they are organized in cooperation with “British Council Latvia”.
