Presenter Karin Bearpark was at the women’s pool in Zurich on Saturday. There she caught two men spying. She posted the incident on Instagram.
For many women, the women’s pool, where men are not allowed during the day, is a place of refuge from lewd glances. This is also the case for the 26-year-old. In other pools, she has often been disturbed by men. On Instagram, the “Energy” presenter posted a video of the two men wearing sunglasses. They were leaning on a railing and staring in the direction of the jetty where many women were sunbathing. She capped the story with a vomit emoji. “Just because there are a few women there who are topless or in bikinis. That’s exactly what this place was created for! So that you can have peace from such looks,” Bearpark also wrote. According to the podcaster, one of the women who was lying there topless ran away when she saw the men.

She discovered the staring men as they were leaving the pool. “I waved my arms around, filmed and signaled to them to get away.” One of them felt caught and turned around to leave. “But since the other man stayed, he continued to spy on her.” Only after she repeatedly asked the men to leave did they give up. “The men behaved like they were in front of a zoo enclosure,” said Bearpark, annoyed.
The Aargau native received a lot of support for the story: “I was pleased that many men also reacted with shock to the voyeur video.” They said that they felt sorry for the guests and had no idea how uncomfortable this could be for women. She did not report the incident.

“The incident in question was not reported to the pool staff, which is why we cannot comment on it,” confirms Seraina Siragna, media spokesperson for the Sports Office of the City of Zurich to “ZüriToday”. During the current season, bathers approached the staff less than five times to report suspected misconduct, Siragna continued. This frequency is in line with many years of experience.
The pool is located “in a very central public area, which is why we cannot guarantee complete privacy, especially on the outside deck. Misconduct will not be tolerated,” says the media spokesperson. If employees notice possible misconduct or are made aware of it, they speak to the person about it. Depending on the situation, the police may also be contacted.
The women’s swimming pool is considered a safe space for women in Zurich.

However, there were no legal consequences for the voyeur duo. “Peeping is not forbidden,” says Marc Surber, media spokesperson for the Zurich city police, to “ZüriToday”. The men were in a public space. It is a different matter if someone enters a property and spies from there. “Then it is trespassing, which can have criminal consequences.”
The sports office advises female guests to report any suspicious behavior to the pool staff immediately. “In addition, there is a very effective privacy screen on the inner deck, near the inner pool.”
