Shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, the protection and rescue service in Zurich (SRZ) received the report that an apartment in an apartment building on Birmensdorferstrasse was on fire and that at least one person was still in the apartment. When firefighters arrived, the apartment was already engulfed in flames.

According to SRZ, the apartment and building were searched and several people were evacuated. Two people suffered smoke inhalation from the heavy smoke. They were given first medical aid by the paramedics and hospitalized. The apartment affected by the fire is uninhabitable until further notice.
