Children in our world are exposed to many dangers and the Zurich Insurance wants to address this problem. It starts in the household: hot stovetops, medication lying around or an open window can be life threatening for our little ones. Other dangers lurk in traffic and when playing. Every year 125,000 children in Austria are treated in hospital after an accident. 25 to 40 percent of accidents involving children could be avoided very easily or the severity of the injury could be reduced. Mag. Florian Weikl, Head of Market Management at Zurich, comments: “The well-being of families is very important to us at Zurich and we want to help prevent accidents with children. Our child safety advisors are happy to pass on their knowledge to parents. “
Advice for parents
In cooperation with the “Grosse protect little ones” association, Zurich has trained 120 employees to become child safety advisors over the past few months. The learning content of the online training included statistics on accidents involving children, highlighted frequent sources of danger and, above all, provided the participants with prevention tips to avoid accidents. A final test checked the knowledge acquired. “Since the subject is so important to us, we will also be offering certification on child safety to interested broker partners in the future,” said Weikl.
