On Sunday evening around 8 p.m., a woman was physically attacked at Zurich main station. As News-Scout F.* (28) reports, she had just come down the escalator to platform 33/34 when she saw the woman lying on the ground. “She was unconscious, lying in her own pool of blood.” A man continued to kick her. “I thought it was definitely a case of domestic violence and the man killed the woman.”

Another woman immediately rushed to help the victim, but to no avail. “This woman was also hit by the perpetrator,” said F. The police and ambulance were contacted immediately. “Many passers-by were extremely upset.”

Serious head injuries

The Zurich cantonal police confirmed a corresponding operation in the Zurich main station compared to 20 minutes. In a statement, the police write that the man attacked the 55-year-old Italian and attacked her with punches and kicks. He also did not let go of her when she was lying motionless on the ground.

He also attacked a 16-year-old woman who rushed to help with his fists and kicks. The elderly woman suffered severe head injuries and had to be taken to a hospital by ambulance after receiving first aid. The younger woman, a Swiss woman, also suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital. She was able to leave the hospital again in the evening.

Perpetrators (26) brought to the public prosecutor’s office

The alleged perpetrator, a 26-year-old Eritrean, was held shortly thereafter by a Transsicura patrol until the police arrived. Cantonal police officers arrested the man and took him to the central station police station.

He is brought to the Public Prosecutor’s Office I of the Canton of Zurich. Together with the Zurich cantonal police, the Zurich city police, two rescue teams from Schutz & Rescue Zurich, the transport police, the Transsicura and the Institute for Forensic Medicine IRM were deployed.

Police report more arrests

In the nights leading up to Saturday and Sunday, the Zurich cantonal police carried out more than 140 identity checks and arrested nine people for various property crimes and violations of the Aliens and Integration Act.

On Friday evening, the Zurich cantonal police arrested two men who had stolen from several people in the “Winter Arena”. The alleged thieves, an 18-year-old Moroccan and a 23-year-old Algerian, were arrested and taken to the public prosecutor’s office.

In the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday, the Zurich cantonal police also arrested three other groups who had criminal property with them from thefts and vehicle break-ins from other cantons and abroad. Investigations against the 17 to 28-year-old men from Algeria and Morocco are ongoing; the suspected crime property was seized. During the identity checks carried out, around 30 evictions were issued and several pepper sprays and prohibited stabbing weapons were seized.
