The Zurich “Grasshoppers” team represented by the captain of the Latvian football national team, Kristers Tober, is in the first round of the Swiss Cup today with 4:0 defeated the third league club “Schaffhausen”.
Playing only his fifth official match for the Grasshoppers, the 22-year-old Tober was named team captain. The Latvian, like in the previous games, played in the position of central defender and helped the team not to concede a goal.
The team from Zurich opened the scoring in the eighth minute, with Kosova’s defender Florian Hosch on target. The 20-year-old Swiss Bradley Fink scored the second and third goals for the Grasshoppers, but the final score was settled by the experienced Pascal Schurf.
The next opponents of “Grasshoppers” in the cup competition will be determined by a draw. The club represented by the captain of the Latvian national team will play in the Swiss Super League on August 27, hosting “Luzern”. “Grasshoppers” have collected four points in the first four championship matches of the season, which allows them to rank eighth in the 12-team competition in the tournament table.
